B/ Mahiyanganal National College is a major educational institute in the Uva province, Badulla district. It is about 65km from Badulla. Mahiyangana which belongs to low – country dry zone has a dry warm climate. The rain fall seasonal and is between 1270mm – 1905mm and the average temperature is 27C0.
.... The mahaweli is the longest river of Sri Lanka flows through the city of Mahiyangana. A kilometer away from the urbanized town is the Mahiyangana National College which is in the left side on the Mahiyangana – Badulla road (from Badulla) and it is only 300m to the sacred Mahiyangana ancient Raja Maha Viharaya, which the Lord Buddha stepped to Sri Lanka first time. The zonal educational office is next to the college. The river Mahavali divides both Badulla and Kandy districts and it is only 200m to the river from the college. Having an agricultural economical background Mahiyangana is situated 800m from the sea level. Therefore agricultural features can be seen around the college.
